How to Clean Your BBQ

Posted on

…..the eco friendly way!

About once a season (maybe twice if you’re really using your BBQ a lot!):

Remove the grates from your BBQ and sprinkle them with baking soda.  Place them in a tub of warm water so that they are submerged.  Let them soak overnight and then scrub with a nylon scrubbie (or something similar).  Wash with dish soap, rinse and dry off.  Lightly season with olive oil.

In between cleanings:

When the grill is getting pretty grungy or greasy, you can try this.  Roll a lemon under your foot to get the juices flowing.  Cut it in half and sprinkle the cut sides with salt.  Use these to rub all over the greasy grates.  Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes.  Scrub using a grill brush and rinse.  Dry and re-season with olive oil.
